FAQ

In Australia all cylinders that can be used for Scuba require an annual inspection and hydrostatic test.

Visual inspection is conducted to identify external and internal defects including cracks, corrosion, rust or heat damage, dents, gouges or contamination.

Hydrostatic testing is a process used to determine the fatigue of the material each pressure vessel is made of. Using water instead of air allows a cylinder to be safely taken to its designated test pressure and measurable displacement recorded.

We endeavor to return a cylinder as soon as possible. If an exact time frame is required please call to discuss a date. Usually we would aim to complete work within 3 to 5 days.

Our facility has the ability to test aluminium and steel seamless cylinders as well as carbon fibre wrapped BA cylinders of all sizes. We limit the lifespan of aluminium cylinders to 20 years and will need to remove any boot, mesh or obstructing covering prior to test. Cylinders with visible signs of damage, extensive rust or corrosion will likely be refused service.

Yes we provide an extensive cleaning service for cylinders during test. Once the evaluation of each cylinder has been completed we will be in contact to discuss what is required and costing.

Cylinder rumbling, brushing, washing and oxygen cleaning can all be completed where required.

It is the perfect time to service a cylinders valve at the same time as testing. Well maintained equipment not only works better but also lasts longer.

Valve service involves cleaning and replacement of all o'ring seals and inspection of all parts. Where the replacement of parts is required an additional price will be charged. Please make sure and let us know if a valve is broken at time of inquiry so parts can be ordered and ready.

We will inspect every valve we remove as part of the testing process, if needed we will service any valve deemed necessary to fill the cylinder.

If a cylinder does not meet the requirements to pass the certification processes we will contact you to discuss the reasons why.

A nominal fee will be charged to cover inspection / test process and cylinder will be stamped to show non compliance.

No, The main causes of damage to scuba cylinders is heat, rust/corrosion or impact.

During a test we use cool water and a cold drying rack to ensure cylinder are not heated.

We use the latest test marking engraver to limit impact made by traditional stamping.

Test marking areas are finished with an appropriate paint to prevent rust on steel cylinders.

Once a test is complete our system will email your certificate to you. A reminder will also be send prior to the cylinders next annual test so you don't forget.
